Parish Information

Lubenham Parish Council meets in the Onyx Room at the rear of the Village Hall on the second Monday of every month - to discuss matters of interest and concern to all residents in the Parish. Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings and, whilst not able to take part in the Council's discussions, they are given the chance to comment or ask questions.

The Parish Council doesn't own or administer any of the village facilities. There are separate committees or groups of trustees for the village hall, village green, playing fields and other organisations.

This means that the Council can impartially consider requests for financial assistance as they are received. During the past year grants have been made to a number of village facilities and a substantial part of the precept is set aside for this.

Any group wishing to apply for financial assistance must furnish complete accounts for the most recent twelve-month period showing details of all income and expenditure. Should a grant be made the same organisation may not apply for another during the same financial year.

Lubenham is a vibrant community with a large number of clubs and organisations. The Village Hall, the ancient church and The Coach and Horses pub are the hubs of many activities and once a year, on the second weekend in September, the whole village unites to mount a Scarecrow Weekend which many people from near and far come to see. In 2008 there were almost 100 scarecrows, including an amazing dinosaur which is still standing in a field near Bramfield Park mobile park. Many village organisations benefit from the income from the weekend's attractions and the annual share out takes place early in the new year.

Next year's exciting Weekend of Straw takes place on 12th and 13th September so make a note in your diary now!
