Parish InformationLubenham Parish Council doesn't own or administer any of the village facilities. There are separate committees or groups of trustees for the village hall, village green, playing fields and other organisations. This means that the Council can impartially consider requests for financial assistance as they are received. During the past year grants have been made to a number of village facilities and a substantial part of the precept is set aside for this. Any group wishing to apply for financial assistance must furnish complete accounts for the most recent twelve-month period showing details of all income and expenditure. Should a grant be made the same organisation may not apply for another during the same financial year. Lubenham Parish Council meets in the Village Hall ten times a year to discuss matters of interest and concern to all residents in the Parish. Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings and, whilst not able to take part in the Council's discussions, they are given the chance to comment or ask questions. Lubenham is a vibrant community with a large number of clubs and organisations. The Village Hall, the ancient church and The Coach and Horses pub are the hubs of many activities and once a year the whole village unites to mount a Scarecrow Weekend which many people from near and far come to see. In 2007 there were more than 90 scarecrows, including an amazingly accurate straw Angel of the North. Many village organisations benefit from the income from the weekend's attractions and the annual share out takes place early in the new year. Next year's exciting Weekend of Straw takes place on 13th and 14th September so make a note in your 2008 diary now! Help us Keep Everything Working!Have you noticed a street lamp not working? Did you pass an overflowing litter bin? Stumbled over a pothole or uneven paving stone? You can now let the Clerk know direct by filling in the Village Fault Reporting Form: as soon as he receives it (automatically, by email) he will make sure steps are taken to remedy the problem. |
